Path of Miracles

Ensemble alto for Path of Miracles as part of the St. Mary's University Page Performance Series in Winona, MN.  

Inspired by the Camino de Santiago, an ancient pilgrimage route across northern Spain,  Path of Miracles brings artists and community together in a shared journey. Progressing through multiple spaces, this site-specific performance in Winona’s beautiful Wesley United Methodist Church explores the journey of the Camino, from spontaneous communal gatherings to individual reflection. The 17-voice choir will be joined by ODC/Dance Troupe.

What does the music of Claudio Monteverdi and Jeremy Walker have in common? Italian Poetry of G.B. Marino and a figured Bass line. Come and hear this project of newly commissioned works of Jazz Musician Jeremy Walker by Consortium Carissimi. His brother Tom Walker will play theorbo and lute, too.

Together in Hope Choir Rome Tour

Ensemble alto with Minneapolis-based Together in Hope Choir directed by Mark Stover and Teri Larsen.   The choir will perform at the opening of the 17th annual Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra in Rome, Italy. 

Performance schedule:

  • Monday, October 29th:  Private performance in Sistine Chapel
  • Wednesday, October 31st:   So That the World May Believe: A Motet for Unity and Service and Holy Spirit Mass by Kim Andre Arneson;  Papal Basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls.
  • Thursday, November 1st:  All Saint Day Mass at St. Peter's Basilica.

The Tudors: Monarch, Drama, and Music of Celestial Harmony

Ensemble alto for Sioux Falls-based TRANSEPT for this program which offers a glimpse into life and music in 16th-century England under epochal figures such as Henry VIII, Thomas Wolsey, Anne Boleyn, and Elizabeth I. Music and spoken narratives are interwoven, including sublime works by choirmasters/composers John Taverner, Thomas Tallis, and William Byrd and featuring beloved instruments of the period including lute and viola da gamba.

This performance of Lenten meditations will feature music of Sibelius, Josquin, Paulus, and others, as well as Tomas Luis de Victoria's setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah.

Two performances:  Friday 2/9, 8pm and Sat 2/10, 8pm.  *The Saturday performance is a MN Orchestra casual concert, which includes $5 pre-concert happy hour, local craft brew, and an opportunity to meet musicians onstage after the performance.

SongSlam at ICEHOUSE

The Sparks & Wiry Cries songSLAM is a unique opportunity for emerging classical music composer/performer teams to premiere new art songs and compete for cash prizes.  In each city, teams will present a new song of no more than 5 minutes for voice and piano in any language for the voting audience, who—in the poetry slam tradition—will then vote on their favorites and award up up to $2,000 in prize money. Teams are encouraged to bring their friends, as all prizes will be awarded by audience vote!

I am thrilled to be premiering How to Triumph Like a Girl by Tim Takach, accompanied by Mindy Eschedor on piano at this event.

Soloist and ensemble alto with Oratory Bach Ensemble, performing BWV 180 Schmücke dich, O liebe Seele, and Sola Fide: A Reformation Cantata world premiere by Artistic Director, Matthew Olson exploring how values of social justice and equality fueled the Reformation movement. The libretto weaves together words from Meister Eckhart, John O'Donohue, the Bible,  Mary Singleton, and rarely heard transcripts from sermons by Martin Luther.

Ensemble alto with Border CrosSing, performing a set of songs from our recent group debut concert.   This is a free, community event, which serves as the opening concert of the 2017-2018 season of the Minnesota Chorale, focusing on themes of home, sanctuary, peace and community in partnership with classes of newly-arrived refugees, who in turn, are sharing their thoughts on home in essays and interviews. The program will include quotes from these essays, photos of the authors, refugee speakers and/or performers affiliated with International Institute of Minnesota.
